Conservation Easements

Moses, Wittemyer, Harrison and Woodruff, P.C. has expertise assisting its clients with the real property and water rights aspects of conservation easements. Conservation easements are contracts entered into between a property owner and a qualifying stewardship organization, such as Colorado Open Lands, that restrict development on land with scenic, habitat, historic or recreational values while maintaining private ownership. Conservation easements may be donated to, or purchased by, a stewardship organization. Typically, donating landowners qualify for significant tax incentives.
